A boy has spoken of how his parents were shocked when they found a book of the Bible they were supposed to read.
The boy, who has not been named, asked for a Bible in the family Bible study room at his home in Melbourne’s east, saying he wanted to read the Bible and not just some others.
The son told the ABC the book he was reading was a Hebrew Bible and was called the ‘disgraceful’ Bible.
He said his parents did not realise they were reading the Bible because the child had been reading it before.
“It said I should not read this book, and I felt really, really sad because it was the book I was supposed to be reading. “
“My parents were really surprised. “
I just felt really bad because I was a little kid.” “

The boy said his mother had to leave the room and his father was there to tell him not to worry.
“They said I was reading the wrong book.
The book in question is called The Disgrance, and the boy has been reading the Hebrew Bible since he was eight. “
But I just didn’t care because I wanted to be happy.”

His parents, who have two children of their own, have asked for the book to be returned.
“The family is in shock, so we’ve just asked that the book be returned,” he said.
The family are also concerned about the book’s contents. “
We’re trying to figure out what we should do about it, and how to be respectful.”

“This book is really distasteful to the family,” he added.
“So we’re not happy with it and we want to get it back.”
